The native tree species is apricot tree (scientific name: Prunus armeniaca, a deciduous arbor of the genus Prunus in the Rosaceae family). It is a widely cultivated economic fruit tree globally, with its core value focusing on fruit production rather than wood utilization. Generally, it can grow to a height of 8–15 meters, with a trunk diameter of approximately 0.3–0.5 meters. Native to Central and Western Asia (e.g., Armenia, Iran), it was later introduced and spread to temperate regions such as southern Europe, central North America, and northern China (e.g., Xinjiang, Hebei, Shandong).

As a tree species centered on fresh fruit production, apricot trees are rarely cultivated specifically as timber forests. Only when the fruit trees enter the senescence stage (with a tree age of over 20 years) or are eliminated due to diseases and pests is their wood used in small quantities. Additionally, its growth cycle to maturity takes 8–12 years, and most trunks have numerous branches and locally uneven grain, making native apricot wood resources naturally scarce—high-quality wood is even in short supply relative to demand.

Natural apricot wood has a warm color, ranging from light brownish-yellow to light reddish-brown. Its grain is straight with slight wavy undulations, and occasional light-colored grain spots can be seen. With a delicate touch, it is a precious raw material for making high-end small handicrafts and light luxury furniture. Due to limited resources, it has long been in a state where "demand exceeds supply".
